Join students and teachers across the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area to celebrate Bike to School Week, May 29 to June 2, 2017.
Spring is coming and so is Bike to School Week 2017!! Bike to School Week, a celebration of cycling and active transportation from May 29 to June 2, 2017. School boards, public health offices, municipalities, regions and non-government organizations across the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area (GTHA) are supporting activities to promote and support cycling to school. If you have not done so already, please register your school’s event(s) at biketoschoolweek.ca. At this site you’ll also find:
- Posters to promote your school’s Bike to School Week event, and communication tools like text for your school newsletter, announcements, etc.
- Resources to help schools design and deliver cycling education and promotion activities
Thank you for registering your school!
Although Bike to School Week is May 29 to June 2, schools that register events any time between Monday May 1 and Monday June 12, and report on their events afterwards, can receive a certificate and other available incentives.
Active transportation is a healthy lifestyle choice that helps students arrive to school energized and ready to learn. It reduces congestion, air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions. That’s why Metrolinx, the regional transportation authority, has made it a priority to promote active school travel. While using an active mode of transportation to and from school is not always feasible for every student, studies show that school travel planning programs and promotional activities can make a difference in getting more students outside and enjoying their trip.
So let’s get rolling! Register your school and join the celebration.
